White to play. Can white kill black?

This came up today in a 9×9 game between Bryan and Thomas. Is black alive, or can white kill?

    This group is alive. Having 1 more liberty and black’s stone at 1 by 5 helpts a lot.

    alive, white extend, black 22.
    I think black extending also works, but I am not sure if I have covered all the variations there.
